Covered in Love Fundraiser

We are kicking off our big fundraiser for Trinity's adoption.

Covered in Love

This is our first step in asking for your help. We do no have fancy prizes for you to win. You win by helping an orphan become a daughter.  The idea of this fundraiser is to make a quilt for her and to add the names of donors to the quilt.  We are using fabric paint to make the front panel of the quilt, to cover her in love with your names.

We need to raise a lot of money for this adoption.  You may be thinking "If you cannot pay for this aoption, you cannot afford another child."  The truth is, paying for the day to day expenses of raising Trinity is much different than paying her ransom.  We are hoping to raise $25,000.  Yes, that is a lot of money, but we know that the Lord owns it all.  If the Lord wants Trinity to be in our family, He will provide.

We started her quilt with a scripture and our names.  We would love to see the quilt filled with names!

A Poem and a Lesson

We use First Language Lesson as part of our homeschool curriculum.  As part of the lessons, we memorize poems (I may have even posted it on the blog before) and recite them.

One poem we have memorized is ...

Work by Anonymous

Work while you work,
Play while you play,
This is the way
To be happy each day.

All that you do,
Do with your might,
Things done by half
Are never done right.

My kids have recited it over and over and over ... this morning chores were only done half.

In a moment of absolute frustration, I decided to do my job by half and attempt to teach a lesson.

I severed my sweet boy his breakfast.  The initial look on his face was priceless.

I hope I had a break through.

I then took the plate away and cooked the egg and taco.

This is a picture of Seth's incision site, taken 24 hours after the surgery.  Isn't it amazing?

Cochlear Implant Number Two!!!

Seth had his second cochlear implant yesterday.  The surgery went well!

Seth and daddy waiting for preop

Seth likes to rock.  This little motorcycle was in the waiting area.  He was tickled when he saw it.  He barely fit, but he was able to ride it for a bit.

He has had a sedative and is getting sleepy ... very sleepy

During surgery, I worried for both of us and Wayne slept!  It's a gift, he can sleep anywhere!

After recovery, he woke up, drank apple juice and was ready to go home!
But not before a new set of No-Nos - he was thrashing and pulling at his
bandage, so the hospital gave us a new pair to protect him.

Waiting for the car!

The next picture is graphic, so stop reading here if you do not want to see the surgical pictures.
Grace said, "That's the inside of his ear???!!! Disgusting!"  So you've been warned.

These pictures show the hole that was drilled, and where the wires and electrodes are inserted.
